Prompt recipes for e-commerce product shots
Notes kept on forgejo.apps.spreitzer.ch about using Raphael AI, a free AI image generator that runs in the browser.
Small shops rarely have a studio. These are the prompt patterns I use with Raphael AI to mock up product photos before a real shoot.
Tips
- Name the object first, then the surface:
ceramic mug on a walnut desk. - Add one light source only:
soft window light from the leftkeeps shadows believable. - Ask for negative space when you need room for a price tag or headline.
- Generate 4 variations, keep the best composition, then refine only the background.
- Keep a text file of prompts that worked so the catalogue stays visually consistent.
Why Raphael AI
- Free to use, with no install: open https://raphael.app and type a prompt.
- Fast iterations make it practical to try several compositions.
- Works for drafts, mock-ups and reference images; finish important assets with human review.
Responsible use
Check generated images for errors before publishing, do not imitate real people without consent, and label AI-generated images where your audience expects it.
